WISE Sports Radio segment: July 23, 2020

Baseball is making news, which overtook our usual NFL segment on WISE Sports Radio. Mookie Betts signed a gargantuan 12-year, $365 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. And baseball players are kneeling during the National Anthem.

The conversation did turn to football, however, with Antonio Brown asking the NFL to complete its investigation into sexual assault allegations and a battery charge. And if Dan Snyder’s Washington Football Team doesn’t have enough to deal with, the Fritz Pollard Alliance is taking issue with the organization’s hiring practices.

WISE Sports Radio MLB spot: Feb. 10, 2020

The Boston Red Sox’s trade and payroll nightmare is over. Their trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, sending Mookie Betts and David Price out west in return for $60 million in payrolls relief and young talent, is finally completed. What was the hang-up in the deal and did the Red Sox get a better return for their efforts?

On Monday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment, we also discuss another Dodgers deal that fell through and the Houston Astros’ continuing issues with their sign-stealing scheme that apparently went higher up in the front office than MLB originally led everyone to believe.

WISE Sports Radio NFL hit: Feb. 6, 2020

On the football side, Pat Ryan, Mike Gore, and I discuss the Cleveland Browns calling Kareem Hunt and Odell Beckham Jr. into the principal’s office, Tom Brady’s possible new contract with the New England Patriots, and the Antonio Brown Apology Tour.

WISE Sports Radio MLB segment: Nov. 13, 2019

If it’s true that you ain’t tryin’ if you ain’t cheatin’, the Houston Astros have apparently been trying very hard as they’ve become one of the best teams in baseball. According to former Astros pitcher Mike Fiers, there was a whole lot of trying, in terms of stealing signs from the opposition, in 2017 when Houston won the World Series.

That’s just one of the topics Pat Ryan and I discussed on Wednesday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment. We also talk about the Manager of the Year award winners and look ahead to the Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player announcements.

[Note: There was a glitch in the recording around the 13:10 mark, some kind of hiccup with my internet connection. Sorry about that.]
