WISE Sports Radio NFL hit: Feb. 6, 2020

Thursday’s WISE Sports Radio NFL segment began with a little bit of baseball with news that the trade between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers involving Mookie Betts might not go through. That’s why baseball writers usually cover their asses by adding “pending physicals” at the end of tweets and reports. Not just a throwaway line!

On the football side, Pat Ryan, Mike Gore, and I discuss the Cleveland Browns calling Kareem Hunt and Odell Beckham Jr. into the principal’s office, Tom Brady’s possible new contract with the New England Patriots, and the Antonio Brown Apology Tour.

WISE Sports Radio MLB hit: Feb. 5, 2020

What a difference two years makes. In 2018, the Boston Red Sox were the best team in Major League Baseball, won the World Series, and Mookie Betts was the American League’s Most Valuable Player.

Going into the 2020 season, Boston has lost manager Alex Cora after his involvement in sign-stealing schemes with the 2017 Houston Astros and 2018 Red Sox and traded superstar Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers. We talk about that along with another trade between the Dodgers and Angels, the Astros’ new general manager, and Pete Rose making his case on Wednesday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment.

WISE Sports Radio MLB segment: Feb. 3, 2020

Is it now officially baseball season with the Super Bowl meaning the end of the NFL season? Players report to Spring Training in a couple of weeks so yes, it’s just about that time.

Also, Colorado Rockies (and former Asheville Tourists) shortstop Trevor Story just received a generous new contract. And I get to express my admiration for the newly retired Curtis Granderson.

WISE Sports Radio NFL spot: Jan. 30, 2020

Super Bowl time! Naturally, Thursday’s WISE Sports Radio NFL segment focused on the Super Bowl LIV match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.

But Pat Ryan, Mike Gore, and I also discussed NFL commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledging that the league’s “Rooney Rule,” mandating that teams interview minority candidates for head-coaching positions, hasn’t worked as hoped. Oh, and favorite Super Bowl party dish!

WISE Sports Radio MLB segment: Jan. 29, 2020

Nolan Arenado is mad, bro. The Colorado Rockies’ best player thinks the general manager has treated him with “disrespect” and it’s increasingly looking like this situation isn’t going to end amicably.

For Wednesday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment, Pat Ryan and I recapped how Arenado and the Rockies got here. Also, will MLB umpires be mic’d up like NFL referees this season? Is Ryan Braun retiring after this season? Why does it matter that Kris Bryant lost his grievance with the Chicago Cubs? And the new manager of the Houston Astros is… Dusty Baker?
