WISE Sports Radio NFL spot: Franchise tag surprises, Teddy Bridgewater, Drew Brees

A big part of the NFL offseason began on Tuesday with teams deciding whether or not to put “franchise tags” on free agent players to keep them (and the big salaries that come with that) or let them go to sign elsewhere. On WISE Sports Radio, we highlighted the biggest names tagged and which ones will be in demand on the open market.

Also, will the Carolina Panthers keep quarterback Teddy Bridgewater after trying to trade him and upgrade at the position? What are the remaining options? And is Drew Brees going to retire and jump into broadcasting, or is he preparing to play one more season?

The Panthers’ quarterback situation could be the most interesting to watch during the next couple of months, whether it’s trading for Deshaun Watson or drafting a prospect like Justin Fields. (The Chicago Bears might disagree, however, if they’re able to get Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks.)

You can listen to The WISE Guys from 3 to 6 p.m. ET streaming on wisesportsradio.com or the TuneIn app. Locally in the Asheville area, dial up 1310 or 970 AM and 102.9 FM.

Thanks to Mars Hill University for sponsoring WISE’s streaming broadcast and the NFL segment is presented by D.C. Creasman Jewelers.
