WISE Sports Radio talk: Red-hot Cardinals, Yankees-Red Sox, Trout shuts down, Lions fan pain

Only one week remains in the 2021 Major League Baseball regular season and teams are still fighting for postseason position with six or seven games remaining.

On WISE Sports Radio, we talked about the St. Louis Cardinals’ 16-game winning streak and the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox battling to host the one-game AL Wild Card playoff game. Superstar Mike Trout calls it a season after playing only 36 games this year. And we take a brief turn to the NFL so Pat Ryan can make fun of me for being a Detroit Lions fan.

WISE Sports Radio baseball talk: NL West and NL Central predictions, Braves keep a Panda

Baseball’s Opening Day is next Thursday, April 1 (no joke), which provides enough time to log our 2021 season predictions. This time around, I pick the National League West winner and standings, along with the NL Central division.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure either division will be competitive at the top. But second-place and wild-card races could provide some drama.

WISE Sports Radio MLB update: Feb. 1, 2021

Two big trades happened in sports over the weekend, both of which we discussed on my WISE Sports Radio segment. Mondays are usually baseball talk, but we began by talking about the Detroit Lions trading quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams and how I feel about it as a long-suffering Lions fan.

Then, Nolan Arenado escaped baseball prison with the Colorado Rockies dealing their star third baseman to the St. Louis Cardinals. Considering the small return, it’s clear that the Rockies just wanted to dump the nearly $200 million that Arenado will be owed over the next six years.

WISE Sports Radio MLB update: Aug. 10, 2020

Baseball talk is back on WISE Sports Radio after Pat Ryan’s much-deserved week off. And MLB had another COVID-19 breakout since last we spoke, this one on the St. Louis Cardinals.

We discuss the possible repercussions of the Cards’ outbreak, along with another brawl involving the Houston Astros, the investigation of Tyler Skaggs’s death, and Cleveland Indians pitcher Zack Plesac breaking the COVID-19 protocols he was touting a month ago.
