WISE Sports Radio baseball talk: 2021 MLB postseason preview, keeping Ohtani, teams on rise for 2022

Major League Baseball’s postseason is here, beginning with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox continuing their rivalry in the American League Wild Card playoff while the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers face each other in the National League.

For our WISE Sports Radio baseball segment, we preview the Wild Card games in addition to the Atlanta Braves-Milwaukee Brewers NL Division Series and the Chicago White Sox-Houston Astros matchup on the AL side.

Happy to give the Detroit Tigers a little bit of attention during that segment. I haven’t followed the team that closely during the past few seasons after devoting most every day to the team when I was at Bless You Boys and later with MLive and Big League Stew. But as the team improved this season, it became more appealing to watch again.

Next year could be a lot of fun, especially if the team signs a star free agent or two and calls up prospects like Spencer Torkelson and Riley Green. Writers covering the team and leading fan communities like Brandon Day, Rogelio Castillo, Chris Brown, and Mark Gorosh are doing great work too. (I know there are others too and I apologize for not mentioning them. I’ll try better to do so next season.) Hopefully, they’re soon rewarded for following bad baseball and running on hope.

You can stream The WISE Guys from 3 to 6 p.m. ET at wisesportsradio.com (courtesy of Mars Hill University) or the TuneIn app. Locally in the Asheville area, dial up 1310 or 970 AM and 102.9 FM. And thanks to Happy Hill Restaurant for sponsoring the MLB segment.
