2022 MLB Predictions: Sure to be wrong!

Happy Baseball Opening Day! A 2022 Major League Baseball season that I doubted would begin on time (or be played at all) because of the labor dispute between team owners and players is going to happen. And there’s some excitement in Detroit after the Tigers won 77 games last year, finished on a strong note, signed some top free agents, and have promising young players ready to emerge.

I am terrible with predictions. Maybe I should start a gambling blog. But I suppose I tend to better with preseason picks, rather than playoff predictions. With that said, I’ll get these 2022 MLB predictions on the record so we can laugh about how wrong they were in October.

WISE Sports Radio Baseball: Mets’ arm issues, Kimbrel-Pollock trade, Justin Upton

The 2022 Major League Baseball season once looked like it may never happen. But Opening Day is Thursday, which makes Monday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment the last one before games begin to count.

The rush to prepare for the season after the owners’ lockout will probably result in some injuries. The New York Mets might be the highest-profile example of that with injuries to ace pitchers Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer. Also, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox make the sort of one-for-one trade not often seen anymore. And the Los Angeles Angels cut Justin Upton loose despite owing him $28 million this season.

WISE Sports Radio talk: Baseball still locked out, no Joe West fans, Matthew Stafford wins Super Bowl

Major League Baseball team owners and players still seem to have no urgency toward reaching a new collective bargaining agreement in time for the 2022 season to start. That leads our WISE Sports Radio baseball segment. Does anyone think MLB commissioner Rob Manfred is doing a good job here?

Also, Andre Dawson and Ferguson Jenkins were among the players who did not like retiring umpire Joe West. Tragic news for former major-leaguer Jeremy Giambi. And how does a Detroit Lions fan feel about Matthew Stafford winning the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams?

WISE Sports Radio talk: MLB lockout update, robot umpires, Matthew Stafford breakout

After a one-week break to focus on my new job, I’m back on WISE Sports Radio for some baseball talk (with a little bit of football mixed in).

Baseball team owners and players are back at the negotiating table. Will this end Major League Baseball’s lockout in time for Spring Training? Robot umpires — or an automated strike zone — will be used this coming season in Triple-A. Will we see this in MLB? And as a Detroit Lions fan, is it bittersweet to see Matthew Stafford one game away from the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams?

WISE Sports Radio baseball talk: Kyle Seager retires, Cody Bellinger re-signs, MLB payrolls dip

Happy New Year! After a holiday break, we’re back on WISE Sports Radio. And despite Major League Baseball currently being in a lockout, there’s some news worth talking about.

Kyle Seager, one of baseball’s best sluggers that some fans may not know of, announced his retirement after an 11-year career with the Seattle Mariners. Cody Bellinger agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers after the worst season of his career. And MLB team payrolls were down by four percent in 2021, which is a big reason why players and owners are in a labor dispute.
