WISE Sports Radio talk: MLB lockout update, robot umpires, Matthew Stafford breakout

After a one-week break to focus on my new job, I’m back on WISE Sports Radio for some baseball talk (with a little bit of football mixed in).

Baseball team owners and players are back at the negotiating table. Will this end Major League Baseball’s lockout in time for Spring Training? Robot umpires — or an automated strike zone — will be used this coming season in Triple-A. Will we see this in MLB? And as a Detroit Lions fan, is it bittersweet to see Matthew Stafford one game away from the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams?

As we were on the air, reports of some movement in MLB negotiations hit the news. According to The Athletic’s Evan Drellich, discussions were “heated” but some progress appeared to be mad on free agency requirements and minimum salaries. And Yahoo’s Hannah Keyser tweeted that there might actually be some urgency now.

Oh, and for anyone who didn’t get the Terrell Owens “that’s my quarterback” reference, here’s video of it from 2008:
