WISE Sports Radio NFL spot: Nov. 7, 2019

Most of the top headlines going into Week 10 of the NFL schedule are happening off the field. Could the Los Angeles Chargers be moving to London? Has Cam Newton played his last game for the Carolina Panthers? Did Mitchell Trubisky really ask for TVs at the Chicago Bears headquarters to be turned from ESPN and Fox Sports because he didn’t want to hear constant criticism?

We discussed that and more on Thursday’s WISE Sports Radio NFL segment with hosts Pat Ryan and Mike Gore. (Mike’s a Bills fan, so we also talked about their chances.)

WISE Sports Radio MLB spot: Nov. 6, 2019

The WISE Guys were off on Monday, so Wednesday’s baseball segment was a bit longer than usual. That worked out just fine, since there’s already plenty to talk about with MLB’s offseason under way.

Among the topics Pat Ryan and I discussed on WISE Sports Radio were the New York Yankees apparently moving on from shortstop Didi Gregorius, the top free agents available this offseason, the Atlanta Braves bringing back outfielder Nick Markakis and buying out pitcher Julio Teheran, and the Modern Era Ballot for the Baseball Hall of Fame. We also discussed the future of the Cincinnati Bengals after benching quarterback Andy Dalton. Thursday Night Football‘s matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals was also on our list, in addition to some other Week 9 storylines to follow.

It was a pleasant, unexpected surprise to hear from our friends at TSN 1260 in Edmonton following the conclusion of the 2019 World Series. Matthew Iwanyk asked if I had some time to chat with Dave Jamieson, and we always have a good time talking baseball a few times during the season.

So I’m glad we could wrap up the 2019 campaign by reflecting on the Washington Nationals’ surprise World Series win, how this team will be remembered historically, and whether or not other MLB teams will try to emulate the Nats’ model for success.

The World Series is going to a Game 7. There have already been too many grandiose proclamations of “Game 7” being the two greatest words in sports, especially when Wednesday night will give us the World Series’ third Game 7 in the past four years (and four in the past six seasons).

A controversial running interference call in Game 6’s seventh inning, the possibility of MLB implementing electronic strike zones, and two women getting banned for flashing Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole in Game 5 are among several topics Pat Ryan and I discussed on WISE Sports Radio Wednesday:
