Talking baseball on WISE Sports Radio, we discuss now-former Seattle Mariners president Kevin Mather forcing himself to resign with dumb comments about international players, keeping top prospects in the minor leagues, and the neighborhood surrounding T-Mobile Park.
Also among our topics: Which player will be next to sign a blockbuster contract after Fernando Tatis Jr.’s mega-deal and with baseball season nearing, we begin our division predictions with the American League East.
Thursdays on WISE Sports Radio, I usually talk football with Pat Ryan and Mike Gore. But with Fernando Tatis Jr. signing a 14-year, $340 million mega-deal with the San Diego Padres and Tim Tebow announcing his retirement from minor league baseball, we mixed in some MLB news with our NFL talk.
Unfortunately, I screwed up with the recording of the segment. Actually, I recorded everything just fine and was in the process of editing it to post here. But my computer was also waiting for me to restart for an update and I must have hit a button that gave it the go-ahead. And I hadn’t saved the audio file for Thursday’s radio segment. All flushed away.
But before that, I did save a clip of us talking about Tatis’s contract to post on social media. So that’s what will go here today.

We’re getting closer to spring training and the start of the 2021 Major League Baseball season. And the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers just brought back a key piece for their roster.
On Monday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment, we discuss the Dodgers re-signing Justin Turner and inking Trevor Bauer to shorter-term contracts is a trend that other MLB teams might follow, considering their recent success. Also, why did the New York Mets invite Tim Tebow to spring training? Does he really have a shot at a major league career?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (handily) won Super Bowl LV and the 2020-21 NFL season has finished. But we still had plenty to talk about on our WISE Sports Radio NFL segment.
Why have the Houston Texans seemingly put their team operation in the hands of an underqualified former team chaplain? Are the Philadelphia Eagles asking for too much in a Carson Wentz trade? And besides Trevor Lawrence, who are the top quarterback prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft?
With the Super Bowl on Sunday, we naturally talked about The Big Game on this week’s WISE Sports Radio NFL segment. I picked my winner, which will almost certainly be wrong. (I should start keeping track of my terrible predictions.)
And being in the Carolina Panthers’ market, we discuss whether or not our local NFL team can make a trade for Houston Texans superstar quarterback Deshaun Watson. Bringing back Watson, who starred at Clemson, would certainly be popular, not to mention it would give the Panthers a top QB for years to come.
