WISE Sports Radio MLB spot: Sept. 9, 2020

Going into the 2020 baseball season, the New York Yankees looked like the best team in the American League, maybe the best in MLB. But the Yanks are currently third in the AL East with a 21-21 record and barely hold the league’s final playoff spot.

On WISE Sports Radio‘s baseball segment, we discussed the Yankees’ struggles, the death of Hall of Famer Lou Brock, Asheville’s Cameron Maybin, and the disappointing Cincinnati Reds.

It didn’t seem appropriate to mention while discussing the passing of Lou Brock, but Detroit Tigers fans certainly remember him getting thrown out at home plate in Game 5 of 1968 World Series. That moment probably turned the entire series in Detroit’s favor when the Tigers were on the verge of losing.

You can listen to The WISE Guys from 3 to 6 p.m. ET streaming on wisesportsradio.com (thanks to Mars Hill University) or the TuneIn app. Locally in the Asheville area, dial up 1310 or 970 AM and 102.9 FM.

And thanks to Blue Mountain Pizza for sponsoring the segment, which is a bit nostalgic for me as it’s the first restaurant we went to after settling in here in North Carolina.
