The Podcass 019: Movie tickets rant, Springsteen Cowboy, Astros awaken

Misery, then joy at the movies on the latest Podcass!

It’s good for the soul to let out a good rant once in a while, and my experience buying advance movie tickets online recently provided just such an opportunity (0:36). Then, we review Bruce Springsteen’s new concert film, Western Stars (09:57). And our WISE Sports Radio segment from Monday recaps the drastic turn in the World Series with the Houston Astros taking control (19:14).

WISE Sports Radio MLB spot: Oct. 28, 2019

What looked like a certain World Series championship for the Washington Nationals is now in danger of slipping away with the Houston Astros winning Games 3, 4, and 5 in Washington D.C. over the weekend.

We’re going back to Houston with the Astros holding a 3-2 series lead and the upper hand. The pressure is now on the Nationals to win Tuesday’s Game 6 and push the series to a Game 7. The Podcass 018: Mini-Pod! Brady, Harbaugh, Cam, NFL Week 8

The week got away from us, schedule-wise, so it’s kind of a mini-Podcass and posting a day later than intended.

WISE Sports Radio NFL spot: Oct. 24, 2019

Thursday is football day for me on WISE Sports Radio, and Pat Ryan returned to the WISE Guys host chair. (Applause for Jordan DeVere and Charlie Metcalf for their great job filling in during the past week!) But we had to fit in a bit of baseball with some big off-the-field news breaking, as well.

Pat and I discussed Tom Brady eyeing the end of his playing career, Jim Harbaugh having to deny rumors of leaving Michigan for the NFL, the Detroit Lions trading safety Quandre Diggs, and whether or not the Carolina Panthers could trade Cam Newton. In an extra segment after that, we responded to the Houston Astros firing assistant general manager Brandon Taubman, who unleashed a disturbing tirade against female reporters.

Bonus WISE Sports MLB segment: Oct. 22, 2019

Extra baseball talk on WISE Sports Radio Tuesday afternoon! Since the NFL season began, I haven’t done radio on Tuesdays. But WISE Guys guest-host Jordan DeVere had an opening on the show and I asked him if he’d seen the Baseball America report on MLB proposing the elimination of 42 minor league teams.

Jordan’s a big baseball fan, and we live in an area with a Class A minor league club in the Asheville Tourists. Not only that, but there are several other teams nearby in Greenville, Johnson City and Kingsport. (There are probably even more.) So this could be a local story, depending on how all of this develops.
