WISE Sports Radio NFL: Tua concussion and aftermath, Bobby Wagner vs. protestor, Daniel Snyder, Rams in trouble

Going into Week 4 of the 2022 NFL season, there was no bigger story than Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion and his treatment after likely suffering a previous brain injury in Week 3. (I wrote about how the Sunday NFL pregame shows handled the story for my weekly Barrett Sports Media column.)

On this week’s WISE Sports Radio NFL segment, we discuss the latest on Tua’s situation, an on-field protestor getting bulldozed by linebacker Bobby Wagner, a former politician sticking up for Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder, and why the Los Angeles Rams should be concerned.

WISE Sports Radio NFL: Matt Rhule’s hot seat, Kenny Golladay’s playing time, Justin Herbert’s rib injury

With changes to the fall schedule, it’s been a while since we’ve talked football on WISE Sports Radio. But we popped on this week to discuss Matt Rhule’s job security with the Carolina Panthers and whether or not team owner David Tepper is being too patient with his head coach.

Looking around the NFL, we also covered Justin Herbert’s rib injury and his status for Week 3, Kenny Golladay unhappy with his playing time in New York, Bruce Arians getting a warning from the league, the Buffalo Bills-Miami Dolphins match-up, and how the San Francisco 49ers will perform with Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback.

WISE Sports Radio NFL Talk: Vikings and Dolphins get new coaches, McVay and Donald staying?

The Los Angeles Rams have won the Super Bowl and the 2021-22 NFL season is finally over. But there is still plenty of offseason news to cover, which we got to on our WISE Sports Radio football spot.

Kevin O’Connell (not Jim Harbaugh – whew!) is the Minnesota Vikings’ new coach. Mike McDaniel is the captain now for the Miami Dolphins. And Sean McVay and Aaron Donald apparently put rumors of their retirement down while celebrating the Rams’ championship.

WISE Sports Radio football talk: Cam Newton cut, Dolphins and Deshaun, Raiders a playoff team?

The big news in the NFL this week was the New England Patriots cutting quarterback Cam Newton. That drew national headlines, but it’s also of local interest since Newton played nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers.

On our WISE Sports Radio football segment, we discuss whether or not Newton’s refusal to get vaccinated motivated his release and where he could possibly end up next. Also on the board, rumors of Deshaun Watson getting traded to the Miami Dolphins, and the playoff chances for the Las Vegas Raiders.

You can stream The WISE Guys from 3 to 6 p.m. ET on wisesportsradio.com or the TuneIn app. Locally in the Asheville area, you can listen on 1310 or 970 AM and 102.9 FM.

Thanks to Mars Hill University for sponsoring WISE’s streaming broadcast and the NFL segment is presented by D.C. Creasman Jewelers.

WISE Sports Radio football talk: Testing Tua, Le’Veon lashes out, Jimmy Kimmel’s bowl game

It’s mini-camp season in the NFL and most players look good — such as Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold. But Miami Dolphins signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa threw five interceptions in a rainy practice. Is that reason for concern?

For our WISE Sports Radio football segment, Pat Ryan, Mike Gore, and I also discuss Le’Veon Bell’s animus towards Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid, Sam Darnold, the NFL’s new COVID-19 protocols for unvaccinated players, and Jimmy Kimmel getting his name on a college football bowl game.
