WISE Sports Radio baseball talk: More no-hitters, Tony La Russa’s gaffe, and Albert Pujols’ release

A little bit of catch-up for this week’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment, but these topics are still buzzing.

Should Major League Baseball be concerned about four no-hitters (five, unofficially) being thrown nearly six weeks into the 2021 season? Did Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa confirm the worst fears about his return to the dugout? And should the Los Angeles Angels have handled Albert Pujols’ release more respectfully?

As you heard if you listened through the very end of the segment, Charlie Metcalf wanted to ask where Pujols might end up next. Like Pat, I think he’ll sign with the Cardinals, but a ceremonial one-day deal that allows him to “retire” with his original team.

But there are a few teams that might be willing to take a chance, either hoping Pujols can really provide some production or wanting the publicity that could come if he approaches 700 home runs. The Reds, Indians, Rays, and Yankees each could be possibilities.

You can listen to The WISE Guys from 3 to 6 p.m. ET streaming on wisesportsradio.com (courtesy of Mars Hill University) or the TuneIn app. Locally in the Asheville area, dial up 1310 or 970 AM and 102.9 FM. And thanks to Happy Hill Restaurant for sponsoring the MLB segment.
