The NFL doesn’t have to worry about its regular season for another four months, so the immediate concern isn’t the same as baseball currently faces. But will we really have football in the fall? Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper is a believer.

Football! The NFL keeps chugging along until any kind of COVID-19 regulations stop them from doing so. Thursday night, the league will announce its 2020 regular season schedule.

In the meantime, for Thursday’s WISE Sports Radio NFL segment, Pat Ryan, Mike Gore, and I talked about Brett Favre’s shady $1 million payday, Jadeveon Clowney still looking for a team, and the NFL’s first phase in reopening team facilities. Baseball fans will get some live stuff to watch this week, courtesy of ESPN. But you’ll have to get up or stay up really late to watch it, since the baseball is being played in South Korea. KBO! Choose your team! We’re leaning toward the Kia Tigers here at Casselbloggy HQ.

On Monday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment, we wondered if the Korean Baseball Organization would fill the hunger of sports fans. And we also talk some football, noting the passing of legendary Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Colts coach Don Shula.

WISE Sports Radio spot: March 12, 2020

We usually do an NFL segment Thursdays on WISE Sports Radio. So that was the plan early in the day, but could we talk about anything other than the coronavirus and the affect that it’s had on sports (and the world at-large) over the past 48 hours?

Virtually every college basketball conference had canceled its postseason tournament, the NHL had just suspended its season, and Major League Baseball announced a delayed start before Pat Ryan, guest co-host Demp Bradford, and I started our segment. Less than an hour later, the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tournament was canceled.

Quarterbacks make the NFL world go ’round (well, maybe coaches too) and this offseason figures to be very entertaining with big names like Tom Brady available to sign with another team. And he’s apparently ready to.

On Thursday’s WISE Sports Radio NFL segment, Pat Ryan, Mike Gore, and I also ask if Cam Newton is a good fit with new Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule, Ron Rivera challenging Dwayne Haskins in Washington, the new Collective Bargaining Agreement proposal, and how much money the Dallas Cowboys will have to pay Dak Prescott.
