Miguel Cabrera reaching 3,000 hits didn’t appear to draw the national headlines that such a story once did. But we led off our WISE Sports Radio baseball segment with the Detroit Tigers slugger joining some of the sport’s legends with his achievements.

We also discuss Kyle Schwarber going nuts over Angel Hernandez’s strike zone, poor attendance at Oakland Athletics games, and San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler refusing to play by baseball’s unwritten rules. And I included a few footnotes after the jump.

WISE Sports Radio MLB segment: Jan. 11, 2021

Legendary Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda passed away last Friday at the age of 93. Baseball misses having personalities like Lasorda in the dugout who can serve as the face of a franchise.

On Monday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball spot, Pat Ryan and I talked about Lasorda’s legacy and replayed his most famous postgame rant at a reporter. We also discuss slugger Kyle Schwarber signing with the Washington Nationals and why the Chicago Cubs let him go. And a lawsuit accuses several MLB pitchers of doctoring baseballs with foreign substances.

WISE Sports Radio MLB segment: Nov. 27, 2019

With the exception of the Pittsburgh Pirates hiring Derek Shelton (previously the Minnesota Twins’ bench coach) to be their new manager, baseball news is virtually non-existent around the Thanksgiving holiday.

So on Wednesday’s WISE Sports Radio baseball segment, Pat Ryan, Charlie Metcalf, and I look at which teams will be active in pursuing free agents, who really needs to make an impact signing, and some of the big names rumored to be traded this offseason.
