The Podcass 015: Lions suffer larceny at Lambeau

Glad The Podcass is on a Tuesday-Friday schedule, so we could have some near-instant response to the Detroit Lions’ 23-22 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. What a debacle, with the referees making several terrible calls that cost the Lions a chance to win at Lambeau Field and move near the top of the NFC standings.

We break down and complain about those terrible calls, two in particular against Detroit’s Trey Flowers (0:32). Then, our WISE Sports Radio baseball segment covers big wins by the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals in the MLB playoffs over the weekend (16:21). Did you miss those amid all the football action?

The Podcass 011: Lions are good, Zellweger is great, and Spidey’s back

This is the week when we get The Podcass on the schedule I’ve intended. Hopefully, we’ll have shows every Tuesday and Friday from here on out.

First, we get a little geeky, talking about Sony and Marvel realizing they’re better together with Spider-Man (03:06). Then, how about those Detroit Lions, hanging with the Kansas City Chiefs and almost beating them (07:45)? We also review Renee Zellweger in Judy (13:44) before jumping into my radio segments. I appeared on Edmonton’s TSN 1260 to preview the MLB postseason (18:27) and dug into the Cubs-Joe Maddon split and the Angels firing manager Brad Ausmus on Asheville’s WISE Sports Radio (26:36).

As mentioned during this episode:

  • ‘WISE Guys’ radio host Pat Ryan continues cancer fight with community support [Asheville Citizen-Times]
  • Symbolic bell-ringing in Asheville resonates with cancer patients [WLOS]

The Podcass 005: Hold the door, La Llorona – Steve Yzerman is back!

On the latest Podcass, we examine an important social issue: How long should you be expected to hold a door open for someone? Also, a review of The Curse of La Llorona, a movie I never would’ve watched had I not been asked to for an assignment.

And it’s rough being a Detroit sports fan right now. Seriously, there’s not much fun in it. But Steve Yzerman — The Captain — returning to the Red Wings as general manager provides some hope. We need all we can get.
