WISE Sports Radio: Blue Jays fire Montoyo, Brett Favre’s handout, Daniel Snyder evades subpoena, RIP Heinz Field

It’s a slow time in the NFL with training camps set to open during the next seven to 10 days. So we began our WISE Sports Radio segment with some baseball talk, thanks to the Toronto Blue Jays’ surprising midseason firing of manager Charlie Montoyo.

On the football side, most of the news is off the field with Brett Favre continuing to be named in a welfare fraud lawsuit against the former governor of Mississippi, Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder avoiding a House Oversight Committee subpoena, and the Pittsburgh Steelers taking a big payday from a new corporate sponsor for their stadium.

WISE Sports Radio NFL spot: May 7, 2020

Football! The NFL keeps chugging along until any kind of COVID-19 regulations stop them from doing so. Thursday night, the league will announce its 2020 regular season schedule.

In the meantime, for Thursday’s WISE Sports Radio NFL segment, Pat Ryan, Mike Gore, and I talked about Brett Favre’s shady $1 million payday, Jadeveon Clowney still looking for a team, and the NFL’s first phase in reopening team facilities. Oh, and we start with some baseball talk on whether or not MLB players will approve the rumored plan for playing its 2020 season.
